No Regrets?

Make the most of your regrets; never smother your sorrow, but tend and cherish it till it comes to have a separate and integral interest. To regret deeply is to live afresh.

Thoreau had a great point there.

I guess the key is to not pity ourselves over our regrets.

I've always felt like if we could see our lives with a bird's-eye-view, we'd not consider things to be "mistakes". Wisdom only grows out of experience, after all.
